This week, I'm thanking my lucky stars that I live in a city filled with so many talented musicians. It seems that every time I turn around I discover another local artist that I love. Here are just a few that I hope you'll enjoy as well.
Cowboy and Indian – I first heard this band during last year's SXSW week. Since then their popularity has exploded. When they played The Hotel Vegas recently the house was packed to the gills.
Jazz Mills – The talented lead singer of Cowboy and Indian, and a new mama, Jazz Mills is currently raising funds to record her first solo EP. Want to help? Donate just $5 and get a digital copy of the EP when it's released.
Shakey Graves – Free Week treated me to a few new favorites, one of them being the unique one man band that is Shakey Graves. Reminiscent of Andrew Bird, Joseph Spence, and Robert Johnston, this gravelly young man is worth keeping your eye on.
The Lonesome Heroes – I love to see girls shred guitars, and the female lead of The Lonesome Heroes does not dissapoint. She plays a mean slide guitar, and she has a beautiful voice. The male lead is great too. Together, they have a really fun, old time country vibe.
Thanks, Austin! You sound so nice.
