Hi Shef. I haven't tried Zocalo's yet, but I'll definitely add it to my list. Any place with good chilaquiles is worth checking out! You'll enjoy Papi Tino's. The atmosphere is very East Austin - sort of grungy, but sort of fancy and romantic at the same time. They have a fun menu too.

This is such a nice list to bookmark especially for friends that visit! I love that you took the time to put the hours open for each business. Thanks for your hard work! So, have you been to Zocalo's? I like their chilaquiles but am sure there are better ones out there..we go there because it's kid friendly, good atmosphere, good horchata, and yummy churros! But it might be a little pricy for what you get. I can't wait to try Papi Tino's! Sounds like a nice space.

Hi Mandy. We are totally breakfast twins. As far as I'm concerned, chilaquiles and tortas are what dreams are made of. I'm going to keep the name Vasquez etched in my brain, cocked and ready for my next trip to that part of town. Mmmmm... tortas.

Such a great idea, especially for out of town visitors! I am officially hungry now. I am all about chilaquiles! I also love Taqueria Vazquez on 183 by the Alamo Lake Creek. Really tasty, inexpensive breakfasts and delicious tortas! Their carne guisada torta is my kryptonite.

Hi Heather. Thanks for the tips! I have heard of Juarez Bakery before. I'm adding it to my to-eat list right now. Alfredos sounds like an interesting place, too. Tacos and pancakes is such a funny combination, but they have the same thing on Amaya's menu. Though it always strikes me as odd, someone in our party almost always orders a short stack when we go out to Amaya's.

Thanks, Margaret! Now that I've collected a huge list of further suggestions, it's time to start round 2! The work of a Mexican Breakfast investigator is never done. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
