Halloween was a bit wet this year, so our new and improved lawn display only made it up once! We got it all together and lit up in time for our annual Halloween Party and Pumpkin Carve-athon. The turnout was cozy this year, and we ended up with around eight jack-o-lanterns in the yard. Fun was had by all. Here's a quick look at the lawn by day:
Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. Godzilla was the newest addition. Last year we created the spaceship, tanks, and buildings. We're working out how we can add Godzilla to some kind of Christmas display without upsetting our religious neighbors too much.
There was no lack of snackage at our party this year. I made a batch of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies using this recipe from Two Peas and Their Pod. Our friend, Boston Jimmy, went a little crazy for them, and I had to send him home with a dozen. I also made up two batches of kettle corn, one was Mexican Chocolate, kettle corn sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzled with melted chocolate. The other was Pumpkin Spice Kettle Corn, which I made with brown sugar and pumpkin spice seasoning. Yum yum.
Our friends, Tara and Keeley, wursting it up.
Last weekend we braved the crowds at Wurstfest, our most favorite food and drink event of the year. We brought a pretty good sized crowd of friends with us this year, which always makes things extra fun. Tiny hats were purchased, pitchers were empted, potato pancakes were nommed. All in all, I'd call the weekend an unbridled success.
I hope you all are enjoying Autumn's chilly embrace. I'm not thrilled with the coldness and the dampness, but I do love a good holiday season. Thanksgiving is on its way, which is my favorite holiday of the year. I'm hosting at my house this year, which is awesome. Last night Mom, Scissorina, and I tried nailing down our menu. There will be at least four pies, maybe five, and a rumored spanikopita. I'm full already.
What are you making for Thanksgiving?
