I thought for sure my chunk would be the same way! He is enjoying food a little more now that we are trying the whole baby led weaning thing, but he's still not very enthusiastic. I think he'd rather play than be stuck in his high chair, so we just keep his "meals" short for now. Before I know it I'm sure he'll be packing away the food.

that is hilarious!!! every baby is different. my boy was such a chunk that he ate anything i put in front of him. i read that you will have better luck if you start with the bland "yucky" foods first (cereal, peas, carrots) then move on to sweeter foods after they get used to them (apples, bananas, sweet potatoes). i was kind of a nut and kept track of each new food he tried (mainly for allergy reasons) and whether he liked it or not. we also made our own baby food (mainly b/c it was cheaper)and i feel like that also really helped the transition to table foods because the consistency wasn't so much a puree like the jar food is, and it kinda gives them something to nom on.
good luck with your little guy!

Thanks for telling me I'm cool. Take THAT, haters. Ha ha. Anyway, yeah I figure he's got to learn to like at least some of this stuff sooner or later. I've found that even as an adult I have to try certain things over and over before I discover a preparation that I like. Brussels Sprouts, for example, never did it for me until I had them blackened with teriyaki and jalapeno. Go figure.

I think a baby has to try a food something like 7 times (could be more... or less?) according to my amazing mum of 3 and university qualified (but still often overwhelmed because kids are hard) "niece factory" ie younger sister :D
So don't be put off if he doesn't go for it straight away.
Thanks for being (still) one of the very few cool Mum blogs!
