Guys! I'm so thrilled to announce that my teeny-tiny business, Make It Good Apothecary, is finally getting off the ground. I've been in a kind of experimental phase with the business over the past year or so. I've held workshops, taught classes, tested products, and brainstormed like crazy to get to this place.
After all of that thinking I've finally settled on two lines of products that I whole-heatedly believe in and I can't wait to share them with you all.
So what is this little business going to be selling? First and foremost, Make It Good Apothecary is about education. It's my mission to empower people to let go of big-box commercial beauty products that push toxic ingredients and unhealthy messaging.
I want to teach people how to simplify the way they look at caring for their hair and skin and encourage them to love and accept the skin they're in! We don't need the beauty industry constantly reminding us of what THEY think are our imperfections.
Make It Good Apothecary will be offering public and private classes on DIY natural skin and hair care here in Austin, and eventually the rest of the world with the help of online classes and webinars. We're also offering a private consultation service where I can help individuals make the transition to a totally natural and handmade beauty routine.
Our online shop (and farm stand) will be offering a line of DIY Fresh Facial Bases in three customizable varieties. This is an idea I've had rustling around for a while and I'm so excited to finally make it real. These bases are pre-blended natural ingredients that can be mixed with plain water or with any kind of skin-safe liquid to create quick and easy fresh facial masks.
Our DIY Fresh Facial Bases are available in three varieties and each jar comes with instructions on making them your own with everyday natural ingredients. Buy all three Bases and receive a mini recipe booklet with lots of ideas to get your started.
The DIY Fresh Facial Bases will be available starting Sunday, April 3. I'm taking pre-orders now at Make It Good Apothecary.
The other major line of products is something a little different. Every week I'll be whipping up three small batches of fresh, all-natural skin care products made with local and seasonal ingredients! These totally natural, spa-worthy skin care goodies are going to be available every week at…
OUR FARMER'S MARKET BOOTH!!!
That's right! We're joining the Texas Farmer's Market at Mueller. Starting on Sunday, April 3 we will offer a weekly menu of fresh products, our entire line of DIY Fresh Facial Bases, signed copies of my book, The Natural Beauty Solution, and demos, samples, DIY lessons galore!
PARTY TIME!
If you are in Austin I'd love to invite you to come and celebrate our official launch on Sunday April 3. We'll be hosting a free DIY Facials bar where you can try out our DIY Fresh Facial Bases in person and take home your very own handmade mask. RSVP on Facebook to join the fun and share the event with your friends.
Now back to the products!
Every week Make It Good Apothecary will be featuring a "menu" of three freshly made products for whole body care. These beautiful small-batch creations will be crafted using ingredients that are all-natural and as often as possible sourced right here in Texas.
Our Fresh Made Cosmetics will be offered in individual servings meant to be enjoyed right away or refrigerated for up to three days. Offerings will change as the seasons spread forth their bounty!
Customers will have the opportunity to pre-order and reserve their products several days in advance every week. We'll also have extras on hand for folks who discover us at the market. Sign up for the Make It Good Apothecary Newsletter to receive menu updates and reminders before every market.
We're kicking off our first market with the following menu:
* SWEET POTATO BESAN FACIALS | Made with locally grown sweet potato, local yogurt, local honey, natural chickpea flour, gentle kaolin clay, and turmeric. This is a great facial for all skin types but will be especially loved by those with sensitive or mature skin.
* FENNEL & CHARCOAL MASQUES | Locally grown fennel is steamed and pureed with pure aloe vera juice, then blended with gentle kaolin clay and deep cleansing coconut-based activated charcoal. This mask is suitable for most skin types but will be especially loved by those with oily, acne-prone or combination skin.
* CILANTRO & SPEARMINT SUGAR SCRUB | Locally grown cilantro pureed with Texas olive oil, natural apricot kernel oil and a touch of spearmint essential oil and tossed with mineral-rich sea salt. This is a refreshing all-over body scrub for all skin types.
