An easy upcycled bathroom storage project using a simple technique for making faux frosted glass.
Happy (almost) Earth Month! April is almost here. It’s a time for celebrating our planet and taking time to think about how to protect our environment through everyday actions and decisions. While our family is far from perfect, we do take pride in making sustainability and environmentalism a priority in our lives.
Little things, like recycling, choosing reusable products over disposable, and making an effort to reduce our plastic consumption give us a chance to do our part in making the world a better place. Spending time outdoors, planting pollinator friendly plants in our garden, and teaching our son about nature helps us feel connected to our planet.
I supposed you could say that we believe what’s good for the planet is good for the soul too! It feels good to go green.
Upcycling is a fun way of giving a new purpose to household objects. In this project, I used a simple faux frosted glass technique to re-vamp three used glass jars. With just a little bit of masking tape and spray paint, I have a brand new set of jars for the bathroom!
Frosted glass spray paint is available in three different colors, which allows you to customize this project to match your own bathroom decor. I chose a warm gray color called Ice. Adding glittery washi tape is another fun way to dress up your jars. I took some photos of the jars with and without the washi tape to give you an idea of how they look both ways.
I’m not sure which I like better. What do you think?
Upcycled Bathroom Storage Jars
Supplies:
- Glass jars, cleaned and labels removed
- Frosted glass spray paint (I used Krylon Sea Glass in Ice)
- Vinyl letter stickers
- Washi tape
- Masking tape
Step One: Use masking tape to cover the areas of the glass you’d like to leave un-painted. I chose to decorate my jars with simple horizontal stripes, but try experimenting with other shapes, like triangles, polka dots, or diagonal stripes.
Step Two: Apply letter stickers to title each jar, or spell out a cute saying.
Step Three: Spray a thin coat of spray paint over the jars and allow them to dry completely.
Step Four: Carefully peel off the tape and stickers from the jars.
Step Five: Add washi tape to give your jars a little extra glitz.
Once your jars are finished you can load them up with bathroom essentials, like cotton balls, swabs, tooth brushes, and toothpaste. One of my favorite brands for toothpaste is Tom’s of Maine. Being from Maine originally, I grew up on their products, and I still enjoy using them today. Tom’s of Maine “Luminous White™” Toothpaste Clean Mint is their most advanced whitening toothpaste ever.
As usual, their new product is made with carefully selected biodegradable or mineral-derived ingredients. Luminous White™ toothpaste contains no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, and has a fresh minty taste that you will love. It’s safe for enamel, so can be used every day to cleanse and whiten teeth.

I purchased my Tom’s of Maine® Luminous White Toothpaste at my local Walmart. You can find this toothpaste, along with a great selection of other Tom’s of Maine® products in the health and beauty section – or shop online at Walmart.com.
