Nashville, TN: Brew & Biscuits

We rolled into Nashville around 9:30PM, just in time to grab a quick burger and sample some local beers at Nashville’s Big River Brewery.

We split a BBQ Bacon Burger, an order of Jalapeno Spinach Dip, and a Big River Brewery Beer Sampler.  Most of the beers on here were pretty standard, but one did stand out. The Sweet Magnolia Brown had a nice flavor to it.

After dinner, we cruised the downtown area for a little fun before heading back to the hotel.  Heather made eyes at an Elvis statue (or two), and before we knew it, we wound up at a pretty rocking Dueling Piano Bar named Big Bang.  The guys put on a great show, which included a special rendition of “Deep in the Heart of Texas” just for us.

The next morning we woke up bright and early (righhhhht), and hit up a local legend for breakfast. The Loveless Cafe, famous for its hams, jams, and biscuits, is a delightful little restaurant that specializes in southern country cooking.

You know I took a big bite out of one of those Tabasco Peppers. Not. So. Smart.

Out of everything at Loveless, the biscuits really took the cake.  They were rich, buttery, and served nice and hot.  I’ll remember you, you biscuits.

I’ll also remember the obscenely gigantic breakfast I ordered.  It was so big, in fact, that Heather and I couldn’t even finish it together, in two sessions.  But hey, if you’re going to pay $15.00 for breakfast, it better be fricking enormous.

Behold, pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce, sitting on top of a corn cake, and sandwiched in between two scrambled eggs (with cheese).  And in the little bowl beside this heavenly mess?  Why, it was a big honking scoop of Hash Brown Casserole.  Never heard of Hash Brown Casserole?  Just imagine that hash browns and oven baked macaroni and cheese had a baby… and that baby was delicious.

Next stop? The big easy, New Orleans!!!
