30 Days With a Grateful Heart: Mexican Breakfast

Day Eight

Migas w/ Cheese & Bacon @ Amaya’s Taco Villiage, Austin

I love me some migas.  This morning my husband and I met up with my sister and her mister for breakfast at Amaya’s Taco Villiage.  Every Sunday my husband and I go to a different Austin restaurant for breakfast or brunch.  It’s a weekly ritual that fills my tummy with joy.  Particularly today, when I polished off some tasty Migas with cheese and bacon.

We’ve been to a lot of places for breakfast over the last several Sundays.  Some were great, others not so much, but it has been loads of fun trying out new restaurants.  Luckily, there is no shortage of breakfast in Austin.  (Just another thing that makes living here totally awesome.)  We’ve been on a Mexican kick for a while, and so far we’ve eaten breakfast at: Curra’s, La Reyna, Amaya’s Taco Villiage, La Fuentes, El Alma, Fonda San Miguel, Polvos, Sazon, and Taco Deli.  Our favorites so far have been:

  • Fonda San Miguel – Their Sunday brunch is amazing, but at $50 per person, it’s a little hard to swallow.
  • Curra’s – They have a huge breakfast menu, and their food is really great.  We tried the Huevos Mutelenos and the Chilaquiles.  Both were great.
  • Taco Deli – Best tacos ever, and their breakfast tacos are both tasty & unique.
  • Sazon – We really like Sazon, so we weren’t surprised to find their breakfast to be delicious!
