It’s a great way to pass on family recipes and traditions, encourage your favorite home cooks, and share your passion for cooking with the ones you love.
Ever since my son was a tiny tot he has been very interested in food and cooking. His earliest culinary experiments weren’t particularly appetizing, but I believe in encouraging childrens’ creativity, so I did my best to keep a straight face while tasting his early recipes. At first, he spent a lot of time smashing weird foods into glasses of milk, or soaking cheese crackers in cups of water. Things like Pizza Milk and Mush Mush Surprise made being his taste-tester pretty interesting, but I hung in there for the sake of encouragement.
Then one day, the waiting paid off. Charlie invented his first truly tasty creation, the Peanut Butter Cereal Sandwich. He put this treat together while we were on a camping trip, and I had to admit, after a bite or two, it was actually REALLY GOOD! After that, he was unstoppable, creating new recipes all the time, and proving that there is always something new to discover in the kitchen.
I can’t wait to see his skills continue to grow as he gets older. I am hopeful that as long as he feels supported in his creativity, he will continue to learn and try new things. When I was asked to create a family cookbook with CreateMyCookbook.com I knew that this was the perfect opportunity to show Charlie just how much I treasure his cooking talents!
As I set out to make a book of his recipes I was a little bit overwhelmed. How would I organize all those recipes? Did I have time to put together the layout for a book? Before getting started, I clicked over to CreateMyCookbook.com to check out the site. I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy they made everything. Turns out all I needed to do was plug in the recipes and upload photos. The site could even pull photos from my social media accounts!
CreateMyCookbook.com has an extremely easy to use interface for creating cookbooks. All I had to do was fill in my recipes, upload my photos, and the application did the rest. Each recipe was added to the book in the correct category automatically. The program even created a table of contents all on its own! Gathering photos of my kids at work in the kitchen, or enjoying their favorite foods was lots of fun. That trip down memory lane also helped me remember some of his sillier recipes that I had forgotten about over the years.
As the author of a professionally published cookbook, I can tell you that when you make your own cookbook with CreateMyCookbook.com the process is super simple – especially compared to making a book from scratch! Writing my books, The Natural Beauty Solution and The Handmade Mama, each took over a year to make. What a treat it was to be able to create an entire book in one afternoon. I can’t wait to see the finished product!
CreateMyCookbook.com gives users several options for finishing their book. I chose to go with a sturdy hard cover with a wire binding and premium paper pages. I’m looking forward to seeing the photos of my kids printed on the pages, but more than anything, I’m excited to see the pride on my son’s face when he realizes that this book is full of his own recipes!
Charlie’s cookbook should arrive any day now. I will share the finished book with you soon. Do you think you would like to make your own cookbook? What kind would you make?
